Herring Pond, Portstewart

July 5th 23

On a wet and grey cloudy day, when the hope of any light seemed limited, I almost decided to stay at home. I had recently come across some cool photographs of the herring pond that were calm and icy cold. On arriving I was greeted with wild and messy waves crashing against the rocks.

I first tried shooting the waves reasonably sharp up to 0.4s to still give some movement but for me they looked messy so I decided to experiment with long exposure shots. I've always liked this style but hadn't tried it for a long time.
